Panic disorder entered the psychiatric nomenclature a quarter-century ago, and an explosion of
studies followed. Defining the core phenomenology of panic disorder can be advanced by an understanding

of treatments to enhance the likelihood of achieving remission and the discovery of novel treatments
for panic disorder.
