The introduction of atypical antipsychotics in the early
1990s opened a new era in the management of schizophrenia
and bipolar disorders.1
Although not officially approved, some
of these agents have lately been tried for the adjunctive treatment
of substance abuse.2–5
Several studies suggest that quetiapine may reduce craving
in alcohol-dependent individuals.3,5–7
