Letter to the Editor

Sir: We would like to comment on the November 2007 article by Brecht et al. that addressed the efficacy and safety of duloxetine in treating pain in patients experiencing major depressive disorder. We concur with the authors that co-occurring pain and depression is a clinical issue of utmost importance, one that has only recently begun to gain a level of attention commensurate with its clinical impact. However, we believe that a number of issues potentially limit this investigation’s applicability to the clinical setting.
