Article Abstract

Because this piece does not have an abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

Sir: We welcome Dr. Citrome’s comments on our research into the relation between exposure to antipsychotics and worsening of type 2 diabetes mellitus. To the existing body of knowledge that antipsychotic drugs cause new-onset diabetes mellitus we add our results, which suggest that antipsychotics cause worsening of glycemic control in patients with existing diabetes. The main result of our research, which is also reflected in the title of the article, is the worsening of existing diabetes due to antipsychotic drugs.’ ‹
