Article Abstract

Letter to the Editor

Sir: We welcome the observations of Stein et al. regarding patients who meet criteria for DSM-IV stereotypic movement disorder and who are intellectually normal, and we wonder whether systematic investigation would demonstrate a positive family history for similar behaviors. Also of interest is whether patients who were partially or totally refractory to serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors would respond to the cautious addition of a neuroleptic as suggested by McDougle et al. for obsessive- compulsive spectrum disorders.
