Larry Culpepper, MD, MPH began the presentation by stating that more than 26 million people aged 15 to 54 years in the United States suffer from anxiety disorders, either alone or comorbid with at least 1 other psychiatric disorder.1 Anxiety disorders cost billions of dollars in the United States each year.2 This cost reflects not only the direct cost of treatment but also indirect costs such as missed days from work.2
