In recent years, the increasing attention that has been paid to gender as an important variable in the expression and treatment of psychiatric disorders has resulted in a number of I important findings. These new observations are well represented in this special issue, “The Dynamics of Sex: Gender Differences in Psychiatric Disorders.”

Overall, mood and anxiety disorders are both more common in women than in men.​​
