Article Abstract

Letter to the Editor

Sir: My colleagues and I appreciate the comments of Dr. Franco Benazzi and his emphasis on several points we addressed in reporting the results of our bipolar registry sample. First, we are also impressed with the high family history of recurrent mood disorder (both bipolar and unipolar). Dr. Benazzi’s family history data are consistent with our data suggesting that over 50% of bipolar patients have at least 1 family member with bipolar disorder and that over 50% have at least 1 family member with unipolar depressive disorder.
