A Clinician's View of the Data on Bipolar Disorder

Noel C. Gardner, MD

Published: November 15, 2007

Article Abstract

Limited data on patients with bipolar disorder in themaintenance phase makes implementing evidence-based treatments for maintenancetherapy difficult. But, clinicians can practice evidence-based treatment byapplying the data to individual patient’s needs. The clinician provides theknowledge base, which should then be aligned with individual patient factors thatmay have an effect on treatment. Implementing this dynamic clinician-patientalliance and individualizing treatment gives patients their best possibleoutcome.
