Concise Guide to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Principles and Techniques of Brief, Intermitted, and Long term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, 3rd ed

Article Abstract

Because this piece has no abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

A Concise Guide to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy soundslike an impossible dream. However, the authors have managed toconstruct a volume of less than 250 small pages that is well written, easy to translate into useful and important clinical activity, and reasonably well referenced.

Among the many positive facets of the book are the provisionof practical guiding principles for evaluation of psychotherapy(Chapter 3), a rich description of psychodynamic listening especiallyhelpful to developing an approach to the particular activitiesinvolved in this process (Chapter 4), and defining theelements of a psychodynamic evaluation/formulation and howthose elements will be put to use (Chapter 6).’ ‹
