Thank You to the JCP Community

In tumultuous times, it seems now more than ever we must adhere to the mission at JCP to provide lifelong learning for clinicians by offering evidence-based, peer-reviewed scientific information to inform the care of patients and to facilitate the evolution of our field to fill unmet needs. Distractions surround us. Misinformation is abundant. The scientific process continues to be principal to our mission. It requires a community to provide high-quality information to inform practice and build upon advances in psychiatry.

It is more essential than ever, especially as individuals are faced with information and misinformation from many sources. Trustworthy information is essential, no more so than in the guidance of the care of patients. We call upon those who give their expertise and time in order to have the end result of responsible, careful publication of papers that can impact patients and their families and steer future meaningful research.

Among our valued community members, peer reviewers continue to provide invaluable service. We would like to express our gratitude for our peer reviewers and editorial board members who have served The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry generously in 2025. Peer review continues to be the lifeblood of our work.

It is with our continued gratitude that we acknowledge our peer reviewers and editorial board members. As our tradition, we provide extra recognition for our Circle of Honor reviewers for their contributions as those who have done the most peer reviews this year.

As Editor in Chief of JCP, I would also like to thank Dr Joseph Goldberg, Deputy Editor, and our outstanding section editors, Drs Philippe Courtet, Jordan Karp, Ann Shinn, Gary Small, Karen Wagner, Les Citrome, Rachel Vanderkruik, John Markowitz, and Chittaranjan Andrade. We continue to offer our specialty sections on suicide, geriatric psychiatry, psychotic disorders, and childhood and adolescent psychiatry. We have most recently added the Focus on Psychotherapy section and the Biostats Made Simple collection, and we continue to offer the ASCP Corner. I am honored to edit our Focus on Women’s Mental Health section, and Dr Goldberg is the editor of our Early Career Psychiatrists section.

I would like to emphasize the precious gift that our peer reviewers provide to JCP’s community and the field more broadly. Peer review is anonymous but has critical impact. Those who peer review improve the papers we publish and therefore inform clinical care and future directions of research that ultimately impacts patients and their families.

Expert peer reviewers are busy and called upon for many endeavors. We encourage our colleagues to mentor junior colleagues in peer review so that we may add to their ranks. It is a learned skill that is essential to our field and improves critical thinking, writing, and teaching.

To our junior colleagues who wish to review, please consider reaching out to a mentor and expressing interest to us at JCP to join our community of peer reviewers. We are deeply grateful to both the mentors and mentees for making this a meaningful experience.

In addition, to our authors, thank you for selecting JCP for their work. We believe the content of the Journal continues to be impactful and inspirational, thanks to you.

I would also like to thank JCP’s incredible teams on the publication and CME sides of our work, and our publisher Dr John Shelton. While we observe many changes to publication and information dissemination, JCP remains dedicated to presenting high-quality work that is intended to improve the lives of the patients and communities we serve.

Our editors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, authors, and readers, along with the JCP team behind the scenes, make up a community to put forth the Journal’s offerings. This is a collaborative endeavor. We appreciate all who contribute.
