Article Abstract

Because this piece does not have an abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

With the increasing prevalence of depression in the United States, the greateravailability of “cleaner” antidepressants, and the downward pressure on reimbursement forprimary care office visits, many caregivers have adopted a simplified approach consistingof pharmacotherapy as the only treatment for depression. As a result, the multidimensionalaspect of depression is often ignored. In his book directed at individuals and their familymembers affected by depression, Yapko first presents a complicated multifactorial basis fordepression and then breaks down the treatment and prevention into skills for buildingfamily strengths.
