Article Abstract

Because this piece has no abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

Sir: The treatment of agitated patients has been reviewed inthe literature.1 We would like to comment on the use of restraintsand seclusion for such patients. We agree that mechanicalrestraints or seclusion should be the last measure used in themajority of cases, but think that application of such methods issometimes necessary.
