Barbara L. Gracious, MD, has published extensively on child and adolescent psychiatry, with a focus on bipolar disorder, complementary and alternative medicine, and weight-related issues. Her work includes studies on antidepressant exposure and fracture risk in youth, the impact of herbal substances on psychosis, obesity prevalence among adolescents with severe mental illness, and clinical trials of divalproex monotherapy for youth at high risk of bipolar disorder. She has also contributed to research validating diagnostic tools for bipolar disorders in adolescents and examining weight changes in postpartum women with remitted depression.
