Jean-Pierre Lépine, MD, PhD, has published extensively on the epidemiology, burden, and societal impact of anxiety disorders, depression, and schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders. His work includes analyses of large-scale epidemiological studies such as the European Study of the Epidemiology of Mental Disorders (ESEMeD) and investigations into the effects of infections on cognitive function in psychiatric populations. Lépine's research also addresses transcultural issues in anxiety and depression and the use of anxiolytics in clinical psychiatry.
