Ruud van Winkel, MD, PhD, has published extensively on the intersection of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders with metabolic disturbances. His research topics include the metabolic side effects of atypical antipsychotics, screening and incidence of diabetes and dyslipidemia in psychiatric populations, and the dose dependency of antipsychotic-induced weight gain.
