Sir: Approximately 8% of depressed patients have at leastsubclinical hypothyroidism,1 compared to only 5% of the generalpopulation.2 An epidemiologic study found that hypothyroidismmay also be associated with asthma,3 although thisassociation is less well established than the association with depression.Depression is extremely common in asthma patients.4
