Charles H. Hennekens, MD, DrPH, has published extensively on the intersection of metabolic disorders and severe mental illnesses, particularly schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders. His work addresses clinical and policy challenges related to comorbid somatic illnesses, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic risk factors in psychiatric populations. He has focused on the effects of antipsychotic medications on weight gain, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, and diabetes mellitus, as well as treatment recommendations and monitoring strategies for metabolic side effects.
