To the Editor: Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) characteristically presents with excessive, debilitating, and persistent preoccupations with a perceived defect or flaw in appearance. Symptoms often impair normal functioning but may not be revealed unless the patient is asked directly about perceived defects. Concerns most commonly include the skin, hair, lips, nose, and chin.
