Article Abstract

Because this piece has no abstract, we have provided for your benefit the first 3 sentences of the full text.

Sir: We had made the following points in an earlier letter1published in Diabetes Care, in which the Consensus Conferencereport was initially published.2 In the same spirit that thereport was reproduced in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, itwould be useful to reprint our letter, with minor modificationsas suggested by the reviewers, in this journal, as it is read morewidely by psychiatrists than is Diabetes Care.

The report from the Consensus Development Conference onAntipsychotic Drugs and Obesity and Diabetes consensuspanel3 contains valuable advice for the appropriate and prudentmonitoring of patients who are at risk for type 2 diabetes mellitus.’ ‹’ ‹
