Article Abstract

This review covers the chemical structures, efficacy, side effects, toxicity, and mechanisms of actionof various classes of antidepressants: tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors,and second generation antidepressants including the serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors, and noveldrugs such as mirtazapine, nefazodone, and venlafaxine.
