To call attention to the high prevalence of depressionin the community, National Depression ScreeningDay has been established. Materials are distributed toclinics and private doctors’ offices to encourage the recognitionof this disorder, commonly found in the primarycare setting. The subject of this article, a 20-year-old,single white male college student, went to his primarycare physician for a routine physical examination on thisparticular day and filled out a screening form.
