To the Editor: Modafinil is indicated to improve wakefulness in adult patients with excessive sleepiness associated with narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, or shift work disorder. There are several reports of modafinil inducing mania in patients with a history of a primary psychiatric or neurologic disorder. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who presented with manic symptoms associated with modafinil therapy.
